Braille Computers for Visually Impaired

Supplying 16 special Braille computers, keyboards, and a Braille printer to the Visually Impaired School in Cluj-Napoca.

In 2018, the Rotary Club Budapest City supported the Visually Impaired School in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with a major grant focused on digital accessibility and literacy.

Visually impaired students face massive barriers in modern education due to the lack of accessible study materials and digital tools. To address this, the project supplied:

  • 16 specialized desktop computers running accessibility software
  • 16 custom keyboards designed for writing in Braille
  • A professional, heavy-duty Braille printer

This equipment allowed students to research online, write assignments, and participate fully in the curriculum. The Braille printer enabled the school to quickly transcribe standard books and exam sheets into tactile text, leveling the playing field for visually impaired youth.
